BC Beach Provincial Championships

with No Comments

This was the largest provincial championship that BC has ever seen.  There were, 34 Pro-men’s teams, 30 Pro-women’s teams, 30 Am-Mens and 32 Am Women (126 teams).  That’s 30 more teams than 2012 and well over 250 beach volleyball players who came out to compete!  The fact that Volleyball BC was able to pull off a high quality tournament over 2 days and with only 16 courts is praiseworthy.

Congratulations to our Provincial Champions and to all who participated!!

Pro-Women – 1st – Allinger/Cordonier, 2nd –  Chow,K/Wooding, 3rd – Tyzuk/Riley

Pro-Men 1st –  Orman/Krause,  2nd – Klassen/Galloway, 3rd – Caverly/Chow

Amateur Men 1st – Nicholson/Pressacco, 2nd – Salmon/Newton, 3rd – Garcia/Lowe

Amateur Women 1st – Evoy/Trim, 2nd – Worsley/Finan, 3rd – Borromeo/Pettersson

There can be few reasons that beach volleyball has grown so dramatically this year.  For one, getting 2 Canadian teams into Olympics really highlights this sport.  Secondly, Volleyball BC won the bid for Beach National Championships for 2 years 2012 and 2013.  And lastly, training, coaching and playing is more accessible all year round.  Why do you think beach volleyball participation has grown?

It’s exciting to see this amazing community grown and we are so proud to be in it!  Looking forward to Beach Nationals on Aug 23rd-25th
